Porting Checklist: OpenPhone

How to port a phone number from OpenPhone (now Quo) to Phound, using the self-service port-out request form.

Porting Checklist: OpenPhone

OpenPhone (now branded Quo) uses a dedicated port-out request form. After you submit it, Quo's team emails you the account number, PIN, service address, and LOA template within 1–2 business days, and you pass those to Phound.

OpenPhone does not charge a port-out fee, but porting is only available on paid accounts — trial accounts cannot port out.

What You Need from OpenPhone/Quo

Quo provides all the specifics in their response email:

  • Account number
  • PIN / password (if applicable)
  • Service address on file with Quo
  • LOA template (partially pre-filled)
  • The phone number(s) you want to port

Step 1: Submit the Port-Out Request Form

  1. Go to the Quo port-out form: toolbox.quo.com/p/port-out-request/newsubmission.
  2. Enter your first name, last name, and the email associated with your Quo/OpenPhone workspace.
  3. Select whether you're porting one number or multiple (CSV upload is available for bulk).
  4. Select the new carrier from the dropdown. If Phound isn't listed, choose Other and type "Phound."
  5. Briefly state the reason for porting.
  6. Submit.

Quo emails the number owner with everything you need within 24–48 business hours.

Step 2: Wait for the Response Email

Quo's email includes:

  • Your account number
  • PIN (if required for your workspace)
  • The service address they have on file
  • A partially pre-filled LOA you can sign

Save this email — Phound will need the details.

Step 3: Complete the LOA

Sign the LOA and confirm:

  • Name matches Quo's records (they'll tell you exactly what's on file)
  • Service address matches
  • Phone numbers are listed correctly
  • Date and signature

Step 4: Download Voicemails First

Important: Call history, voicemails, and message history stay in Quo only until your workspace closes. Download anything you want to keep before the port completes.

  1. In the OpenPhone/Quo app, open any conversation or voicemail.
  2. Use the download option to save recordings locally.
  3. Export contact lists separately if needed.

Step 5: Submit to Phound

  1. Open PhoundSettings > Numbers > Port a Number.
  2. Provide:
    • Quo account number + PIN
    • Signed LOA
    • Phone number(s)
  3. Submit.

Track in Check Your Porting Status.

Step 6: Cancel the Quo Subscription Separately

Completing the port does not cancel your OpenPhone/Quo subscription. You must:

  1. Go to support.quo.com or your Quo billing settings.
  2. Cancel the subscription or downgrade as appropriate.

Otherwise you'll keep being charged monthly for an empty workspace.

Timeline

  • Response from Quo: 24–48 business hours after you submit the form
  • Full port duration: 1–14 business days, depending on the gaining carrier
  • Business numbers often take longer than personal lines

Common Rejection Reasons

  • Trial account — you must be on a paid Quo plan to port out
  • Name mismatch between LOA and Quo records
  • Service address mismatch
  • Expired PIN / account info
  • Outstanding billing issues
