Tour of the App: Home, Inbox, Meetings, Personas, Settings
Now that you have logged in and completed onboarding, it is time to get familiar with the Phound app. This guide takes you through every major screen so you know exactly where things are and how to use them. Consider this your map to the app — reference it anytime you need a refresher.
How Navigation Works
Phound uses a bottom navigation bar that is always visible, giving you one-tap access to the five main sections of the app:
- Home — Your dashboard and starting point.
- Inbox — All your messages across every persona.
- Meetings — Video conferencing and meeting management.
- Personas — Manage your numbers and identities.
- Settings — Account configuration, billing, and preferences.
Tapping any tab takes you directly to that section. The currently active tab is highlighted so you always know where you are. Let's walk through each one.
Home Tab
The Home tab is the first screen you see when you open Phound. It serves as your command center, giving you a quick overview of your communication activity and fast access to common actions.
Active Persona Selector
At the top of the Home screen, the active persona banner displays the persona name, phone number, and avatar. Tap it to open the persona switcher and select a different persona. When a persona is active, all outgoing calls and messages come from that persona's number.
Tip: Switching personas does not affect incoming communication. You will still receive calls and messages on all your numbers regardless of which persona is currently active. The active persona only controls which number is used when you initiate a call or message.
Quick Actions
Below the persona banner, you will find quick-action buttons:
- New Call — Opens the dialer to place a call from your active persona's number.
- New Message — Opens a compose screen to send an SMS or MMS from your active persona.
- New Meeting — Starts or schedules a video meeting.
- Add Number — Takes you to the number selection flow to add a new number and create a persona.
Recent Activity Feed
The main body of the Home screen shows your recent activity — a chronological list of your latest calls, messages, and meetings across all personas. Each entry displays the contact name, the type of activity, which persona it belongs to, and a timestamp. Tap any entry to jump into that conversation, call log, or meeting details.
If you have missed calls or unread messages, the Home tab icon will display a red badge with a count, and unread items are highlighted in the feed.
Inbox Tab
The Inbox is where all your text conversations live. It provides a unified view of every message across all your personas, with tools to filter and organize.
Unified Message View
By default, the Inbox shows all message threads from every persona in a single list, sorted by most recent activity. Each thread displays the contact name, a message preview, timestamp, and a persona label so you always know which number the conversation belongs to.
Filtering by Persona
At the top of the Inbox, filter chips let you view threads from a single persona or tap "All" to see everything. This is useful when you want to focus on one persona's messages — for example, reviewing only business texts without personal threads in the way.
Tip: If you are looking for a specific conversation, use the search icon at the top of the Inbox. You can search by contact name, phone number, or message content.
Conversation View
Tap any thread to open the full message history with that contact. From here you can send text and multimedia messages, view delivery status, and tap the phone icon to call the contact from the same persona number.
Phound also supports group messaging. Group threads appear in the Inbox alongside individual threads and work with MMS across your Phound numbers.
Warning: Group messaging availability may depend on your plan and the recipients' carriers. If a group message fails, check our messaging troubleshooting guide.
Meetings Tab
The Meetings tab is where you create, schedule, and manage video conferences. Phound supports meetings with up to 500 participants, making it suitable for everything from one-on-one conversations to large team calls and webinars.
Starting a Meeting
Tap New Meeting to start an instant meeting or Schedule to set one up for later. You can share a meeting link with participants via message, email, or any other channel. Participants can join from the Phound app on any supported device — iOS, Android, Mac, or Windows.
Meeting History
The Meetings tab also displays your meeting history — a list of past meetings with date, duration, and participant information. Tap any past meeting to review its details.
Magnum AI Summaries and Transcription
After a meeting ends, Magnum AI automatically generates a summary and transcription. You can access these from the meeting details screen. Magnum AI also provides summaries for phone calls, so you can review key points from any conversation without replaying recordings.
Tip: Magnum AI summaries are also available for regular phone calls, not just meetings. Check your call history to find AI-generated summaries of past conversations.
Personas Tab
The Personas tab is the heart of what makes Phound different. This is where you create, customize, and manage the separate identities tied to each of your phone numbers. Phound offers four persona types — Professional, Personal, Promotional, and Public — each designed for different communication needs.
Your Persona List
The Personas tab displays each persona as a card showing the name, phone number, avatar, active/inactive status, and a count of unread messages and missed calls.
Persona Details
Tap any persona card to open its detail view, where you can configure:
- Name and Avatar — Change the display name and upload a custom photo or icon.
- Notification Preferences — Mute during certain hours, set custom sounds, or silence entirely. See our notification preferences guide.
- Voicemail — Record or change the greeting. Each persona has its own independent voicemail box.
- Call Forwarding — Route calls to another number when you are unavailable.
- Caller ID Display — Choose what recipients see when you call from this persona.
Creating and Releasing Personas
Tap the Add Persona button ("+" icon) to get a new number and create a persona. You will follow the same number selection flow from sign-up. See our adding a new number guide for details.
To remove a persona, open its detail view and tap Release Number. Releasing a number is permanent — once released, it becomes available to other users and cannot be reclaimed.
Warning: Before releasing a number, make sure you have saved any important conversations or voicemail messages. Releasing a number permanently deletes all associated call history, messages, and voicemail. This action cannot be undone.
Settings Tab
The Settings tab is where you manage your account, control app-wide preferences, and handle administrative tasks like billing and security.
Account
- Profile — Update your display name, email address, and profile photo.
- Password and Security — Change your password, enable biometric login, and manage two-factor authentication.
- Email Preferences — Choose which emails you receive from Phound (receipts, updates, tips).
Notifications
- Global Settings — Control sounds, vibration, and badge counts app-wide.
- Per-Persona Notifications — Customize alerts for each number independently.
- Do Not Disturb — Set quiet hours during which Phound notifications are silenced.
Billing and Subscription
View your current plan, upgrade or downgrade, update your payment method, and review billing history. Phound offers three plans: Basic (Free), Pro ($9.99/month billed annually), and Business ($18/month billed annually). For more details, see our subscription management guide.
Phound Wave
Access Phound Wave settings to configure broadcast messaging. Phound Wave lets you send messages to large groups of contacts at once — useful for promotions, announcements, and outreach.
Verified ID
Set up and manage your Verified ID to verify your identity within the app. Verified ID adds credibility to your communications and lets recipients see that your identity has been confirmed.
Number Management
- My Numbers — View all phone numbers on your account and navigate to persona settings.
- Port a Number — Transfer an existing number from another carrier. See our porting guide.
- Release a Number — Remove a number and free up a persona slot.
Help, Support, and About
Access the knowledge base, contact support, send feedback, check your app version, and review the privacy policy and terms of service. You can also log out from this section.
Tip: Check the App Version section periodically and make sure you are running the latest version. Many support issues are resolved by simply updating the app.
