Getting Phound onto your device and creating your account takes just a few minutes. This guide covers everything from finding the app in your device's store to choosing your very first phone number. Follow along step by step, and you will be ready to start making calls, sending texts, hosting meetings, and more with your new number in no time.
Where to Download Phound
Phound is available as a free download on iOS, Android, Mac, and Windows. The app is listed in stores as "Phound: 2nd Phone & Personas" with the subtitle "AI Summaries & Verified ID."
iOS (iPhone and iPad)
Download Phound from the Apple App Store. The app requires iOS 15 or later and is optimized for iPhone. iPad users can also install the app, though the primary experience is designed for iPhone.
To download on iOS:
- Open the App Store on your iPhone.
- Tap the Search tab at the bottom of the screen.
- Type "Phound" in the search bar and tap Search.
- Locate "Phound: 2nd Phone & Personas" (look for the official Phound logo) and tap Get.
- Authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your Apple ID password if prompted.
- Wait for the download and installation to complete. The Phound icon will appear on your home screen.
Android
Download Phound from the Google Play Store. The app requires Android 10 or later and works on most Android phones and tablets.
To download on Android:
- Open the Google Play Store on your Android device.
- Tap the search bar at the top and type "Phound".
- Find "Phound: 2nd Phone & Personas" in the results and tap on it.
- Tap Install.
- Wait for the download and installation to finish. You will find the Phound icon in your app drawer or home screen.
Mac and Windows
Phound is also available as a desktop application for Mac and Windows. Download the desktop app from phound.app and sign in with the same account you use on mobile. The desktop app gives you access to calling, messaging, meetings, and all your personas from your computer.
Tip: Make sure you are downloading the official Phound app. Look for "Phound: 2nd Phone & Personas" with the verified developer name and the official Phound logo to avoid imitation apps.
System Requirements
Before installing, confirm your device meets the following minimum requirements:

Warning: Phound requires an active internet connection to make calls and send messages. The app will not function in airplane mode unless Wi-Fi is enabled.
Creating Your Account
Once the app is installed, you will need to create a Phound account. This is a one-time process that ties your identity to your Phound numbers and personas.
Step 1: Open the App
Tap the Phound icon on your home screen to launch the app. You will be greeted by a welcome screen with options to Sign Up or Log In.
Tap Sign Up to begin creating your account.
Step 2: Enter Your Email Address
You will be asked to provide an email address. This email will be used for:
- Account recovery
- Important account notifications
- Receipts and billing communications
Enter a valid email address that you have access to and tap Continue.
Tip: Use an email address you check regularly. If you ever need to reset your password or recover your account, this is how we will reach you.
Step 3: Create a Password
Choose a strong password for your account. Your password must meet the following requirements:
- At least 8 characters long
- Contains at least one uppercase letter
- Contains at least one number
- Contains at least one special character
Enter your password, confirm it, and tap Continue.
Step 4: Verify Your Primary Phone Number
For security purposes, Phound requires you to verify your real phone number during sign-up. This is the number associated with your physical device — not a Phound number.
- Enter your primary phone number (the one your carrier assigned to your device).
- Tap Send Verification Code.
- You will receive a 6-digit code via SMS. Enter the code in the app.
- Tap Verify.
Warning: The verification code expires after 10 minutes. If you do not receive the code, check that you entered the correct number and tap Resend Code. Make sure your device can receive SMS messages (not in airplane mode or Do Not Disturb).
Step 5: Confirm Your Email
After phone verification, Phound will send a confirmation link to your email. Open the message and tap the link to confirm. If you do not see it, check your spam folder or tap Resend Email in the app.
Step 6: Set Up Your Profile
Once verified, set up your basic profile by entering a Display Name and optionally adding a Profile Photo. Tap Complete Setup to continue.
Choosing Your First Number
After your account is created, Phound will walk you through picking your first phone number. This is an exciting step — you are about to get a brand-new number that is entirely yours to use however you want.
How Number Selection Works
- Choose your country — Select United States or Canada.
- Enter an area code — Type in the area code you want for your new number. This lets you get a local number for any region. For example, if you want a New York City number, enter 212 or 646.
- Browse available numbers — Phound will show you a list of available numbers with that area code. Scroll through and find one you like.
- Select your number — Tap on the number you want to claim it.
Tip: If you do not see a number you like, try a different area code or refresh the list. New numbers become available regularly.
Naming Your First Persona
After selecting a number, you will be asked to create your first persona. Give it a name that helps you remember what this number is for — something like "Work," "Business," "Side Hustle," or "Online Shopping."
You can always change the persona name, avatar, and settings later from the Personas tab.
What Happens Next
With your account created and your first number selected, you are officially ready to use Phound. Here is what to do next:
- Complete your first login — Walk through the onboarding flow and grant necessary permissions.
- Take a tour of the app — Learn where everything is so you can move around confidently.
- Start communicating — Make your first call or send your first text from your new number.
If you want to add more numbers later, you can do so at any time from the Personas tab or through Settings.
Troubleshooting Installation Issues
If you run into problems during download or sign-up, try the following:
- App not appearing in search results — Make sure your device meets the minimum OS requirements. Phound may not appear in the store if your device is running an older operating system.
- Download stuck or failing — Check your internet connection and available storage space. Try restarting the download.
- Verification code not arriving — Ensure your device can receive SMS messages. Check that you entered the correct phone number. Wait a full minute before tapping Resend Code.
- Email confirmation not received — Check spam and junk folders. Verify that the email address you entered is correct.
