Porting Checklist: Cricket Wireless

Step-by-step instructions for porting your Cricket Wireless number to Phound, including four ways to get your Number Transfer PIN.

Porting Checklist: Cricket Wireless

Cricket Wireless is AT&T's prepaid carrier with its own port-out process. Cricket provides an official Number Transfer PIN portal, so you can grab everything you need yourself — no phone call required unless you prefer it.

Cricket does not charge a port-out fee.

What You Need from Cricket Wireless

  • Your Cricket account number (not the account PIN)
  • A Number Transfer PIN
  • The billing ZIP code or full address on file

Step 1: Generate Your Number Transfer PIN

Cricket offers four ways to get your Transfer PIN:

Option A: Online Portal

  1. Go to Cricket's Number Transfer PIN portal at cricketwireless.com.
  2. Log in with your Cricket credentials.
  3. Request the Number Transfer PIN — it's displayed on screen or texted to you.

Option B: myCricket App

  1. Open myCricketHome.
  2. Tap the Gear icon.
  3. Go to Line Settings.
  4. Tap Get my Number Transfer PIN.

Option C: Dial *PORT (*7678)

Dial *PORT (*7678) — or *PORTAR for Spanish — from your Cricket device.

Option D: Phone

Call 1-800-CRICKET (1-800-274-2538) and ask for your Number Transfer PIN. You'll need your account PIN to generate it.

PIN Validity

5 days from request. One PIN covers all lines on the same account.

Warning: Cricket's official guidance: "Cricket Wireless will never call you and ask for your account PIN or Number Transfer PIN." If you receive such a call, it's a scam.

Step 2: Find Your Account Number

  • myCricket app: Account section.
  • cricketwireless.com: Sign in → Account overview.
  • On a bill or receipt: Top of the document.
  • By phone: Call 1-800-CRICKET and ask.

Tip: Cricket's account number is different from your account PIN. Submitting the PIN as the account number is a common rejection cause.

Step 3: Verify Billing Address

Cricket will validate the ZIP / address on the port request against their records. Check Account → Profile in myCricket to confirm the ZIP is current.

Step 4: Make Sure Your Account is Active

  • Account must be active (not suspended)
  • Don't cancel Cricket before the port completes — you'll need to reactivate first

Step 5: Submit Your Port Request in Phound

  1. Open PhoundSettings > Numbers > Port a Number.
  2. Enter your Cricket number.
  3. Provide the account number, Number Transfer PIN, and ZIP.
  4. Submit.

Track in Check Your Porting Status.

Timeline

  • Typical: A few hours
  • Can take: Up to 24–48 hours for wireless

Common Rejection Reasons

  • Expired Number Transfer PIN (past 5 days)
  • Account PIN submitted as Transfer PIN (they're different — the account PIN is what you use to log in; the Transfer PIN is what you generate for porting)
  • Wrong account number
  • ZIP / address mismatch
