Porting Checklist: Mint Mobile

Step-by-step instructions for porting your Mint Mobile number to Phound, including how to get your account number and Transfer PIN from Mint's in-app chat.

Porting Checklist: Mint Mobile

Mint Mobile runs on the T-Mobile network but has its own port-out process — you get your account number and Transfer PIN from Mint's support team (via in-app chat or phone), not from a self-service portal. This guide walks through exactly what to do.

Mint does not charge a port-out fee.

What You Need from Mint Mobile

  • Your Mint Mobile account number
  • A Number Transfer PIN (different from your account security PIN)
  • The billing ZIP code on your account
  • The Mint phone number you want to port

Step 1: Request Your Account Number and Transfer PIN

Mint Mobile provides both the account number and Transfer PIN through their support team. The fastest path is in-app chat.

Option A: In-App Chat (fastest)

  1. Open the Mint Mobile app (or sign in at mintmobile.com).
  2. Go to the Support tab.
  3. Tap Start a conversation.
  4. Type something like "Port-Out PIN" or "Account Number" and send.
  5. When offered, select To Port Out.
  6. Wait in queue for a live agent.
  7. Verify your identity with the code they send.
  8. The agent provides your account number and Transfer PIN in chat.

Option B: Phone

Call Mint Mobile at 1-800-683-7392 and ask a representative to provide your account number and Transfer PIN for porting.

Tip: The PIN you receive is generated on the spot. Use it promptly — within a day or two — so it doesn't expire before Phound submits the port.

Step 2: Confirm Your Billing ZIP Code

Phound will submit the ZIP code on your Mint Mobile account to T-Mobile's porting system. Any mismatch triggers rejection.

  • Sign in at mintmobile.comAccount → verify the ZIP on file.
  • If it's outdated, update it before submitting the port.

Step 3: Make Sure Your Account is Active

  • Your Mint account must be active at the time of the port.
  • Any past-due balance can block porting.
  • Don't cancel Mint service before the port completes — cancellation releases the number to the pool and you'll lose it.

Step 4: Submit Your Port Request in Phound

  1. Open PhoundSettings > Numbers > Port a Number.
  2. Enter your Mint Mobile number.
  3. Provide the account number, Transfer PIN, and billing ZIP.
  4. Submit.

Track your port in Check Your Porting Status.

Timeline

  • Typical: 15 minutes to 24 hours
  • Can stretch to: 48 hours if info has a minor mismatch

Mint Mobile runs on T-Mobile's network, so ports are processed as standard wireless ports.

Common Rejection Reasons

  • Wrong PIN type — using your account security PIN instead of the Transfer PIN
  • Expired Transfer PIN — generated too far in advance
  • Wrong account number — confirm with a Mint support agent if unsure
  • ZIP mismatch
  • Account suspended for non-payment
