Share Access to a Persona
If you've hired an assistant, brought on a team member, or have someone helping manage your calls and messages, you might wonder whether you should share your login with them. You don't have to, and there's a better way: share access to a specific persona instead.
A persona is the identity your calls, messages, numbers, and settings are connected to. When you share access to a persona, the other person can help you communicate from it, without ever needing your password.
Why Share a Persona Instead of Your Login
Handing out your password gives someone the keys to your entire account. Sharing access to a single persona is safer and cleaner:
- No password sharing. The other person uses their own Phound account, your login stays private.
- Scoped to one persona. They work from the persona you choose, not your whole account.
- Simple for them. The shared persona appears inside their own account, alongside their personal personas.
Before You Start
The person you're sharing with needs their own Phound account. It does not have to be a paid account, a free account works perfectly. Once they're set up, you're ready to share.
How to Share Access to a Persona
- Open Phound and go to Account. On desktop, Account is in the left sidebar; the same steps apply on mobile.
- Select Personas, then choose the persona you want to share.
- On the persona management screen, click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner and choose Share access.
- Search for the person you want to share with. When you find them, select their contact and click Share.
- Phound shows a confirmation screen. Read it carefully, sharing access gives that person full control of the persona (see the warning below).
- When everything looks right, click Grant access.
Once that's done, the shared persona appears inside the other person's Phound account, and they can start helping with everything that persona can do, without ever knowing your password.
Warning: Sharing access gives that person full control over the persona. They'll be able to make calls, send messages, and manage settings on your behalf. Only grant access to someone you trust.
Who This Is For
Sharing persona access is ideal any time someone communicates on your behalf, including:
- Executive and virtual assistants
- Team members and employees
- Receptionists and front-desk staff
- Sales reps and support staff
The rule is simple: don't share your login, share access to the persona instead.
