What Is MCP?

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. The easiest way to think about it: MCP gives your AI assistant a secure way to connect to the tools and data you actually use.

Instead of your AI only knowing what you type into the chat, an MCP connection lets it reach into an approved system, use the tools that system offers, and bring real context into the conversation. MCP is an open standard supported by a growing list of AI apps, including Claude, Cursor, Codex, Claude Code, Gemini CLI, and other MCP-compatible tools.

In Phound's case, the Magnum AI MCP connects your AI tool to the meetings that Magnum attended and captured inside Phound.

What the Magnum AI MCP Can Access

This part is important: the Magnum AI MCP can only access meetings where Magnum was part of the meeting and generated the meeting intelligence.

It does not automatically surface every recorded Phound meeting. If a meeting was recorded but Magnum was not there, that meeting will not be available through the MCP.

Tip: The rule is simple. If you want a meeting to be searchable later, make sure Magnum is in the meeting. Add Magnum AI as an attendee at the start of the call so it captures the whole conversation. See Magnum AI in Meetings for how to add it.

Once Magnum has captured a meeting, your AI assistant can help you find it, read the transcript, look at the summary, and then do something useful with that information, such as drafting follow-ups or spotting patterns across calls.

Most teams already have the information they need, it's just buried inside their meetings. Sales calls, weekly internal syncs, client check-ins, all of it happens inside Phound meetings, but a week later you're asking, "When did we talk about that?"

The Magnum AI MCP turns those meetings into searchable business memory. Instead of rewatching recordings, digging through notes, or trying to remember which call something came from, you just ask. Magnum captures the meeting intelligence, and the MCP lets your AI tools actually use it.

How to Set Up the MCP in Claude

We'll use Claude here because it's one of the easiest places to start, but the same idea works in any MCP-supported tool (see the next section).

Install the Claude desktop app. Download Claude to your computer and sign in. You'll need the desktop app to add a custom connector.
Open Settings and find Connectors. Inside Claude, go to Settings and look for Connectors. Depending on your version it may be called Customize, Claude updates its interface often, so the exact wording can differ from what you see in the video.
Add a custom connector. Choose to add a custom connector. This is where you'll paste the official Magnum AI MCP URL.
Paste the Magnum AI MCP URL. Enter https://mcp.phound.app and confirm.
Authenticate with your Phound account. Claude opens an authentication flow in your browser. Sign in with your Phound account, approve the connection, and Claude will bring you back to the app.
Enable the connector in a new chat. Start a new Claude chat, turn on the Magnum AI connector for that conversation, and you're ready to ask questions about the meetings Magnum has captured.

Tip: Because Claude's interface changes frequently, focus on the goal of each step (add a custom connector, paste the URL, authenticate with Phound, enable it in a chat) rather than matching the menu labels exactly.

Using the MCP in Other AI Tools

MCP is not limited to Claude. Depending on your workflow, you can also connect the Magnum AI MCP in other MCP-supported tools, including:

The setup may look a little different in each tool, but the idea is always the same:

Troubleshooting

A meeting isn't showing up. Magnum was most likely not in that meeting. The MCP only sees meetings Magnum attended and captured. Going forward, add Magnum AI at the start of every call you want to be searchable.
The connector menu looks different. Claude updates its interface often. Look for Connectors or Customize under Settings, then add a custom connector.
Authentication didn't complete. Make sure you finished signing in with your Phound account in the browser and approved the connection, then return to Claude and enable the connector in a new chat.
You don't see Magnum AI in your meetings. Magnum AI is part of Phound's paid tiers. See Subscription Plans Overview to confirm your plan includes it.
