Latest Updates

Stay up to date with everything new in Phound. We ship improvements regularly to make your second phone number experience faster, clearer, and more reliable. Below you will find a detailed breakdown of our most recent release.

Version 2.5 — April 2026

This is one of our biggest updates yet. Version 2.5 brings a completely redesigned inbox, a more powerful call quality engine, ready-to-use persona templates, smarter notification controls, and a wave of performance improvements across the entire app. Whether you use Phound for business, side projects, or personal privacy, this release has something for you.

New Persona Templates

Setting up a new number identity used to require filling in every detail from scratch. With v2.5, we are introducing Persona Templates — pre-built profiles that let you get started in seconds.

  • Freelancer — Includes a professional voicemail greeting, business-hours auto-reply, and a clean caller ID display name suited for client-facing work.
  • Online Seller — Optimized for marketplace communication with quick-reply snippets for common buyer questions, shipping updates, and negotiation responses.
  • Privacy Screen — A minimal persona designed for situations where you need a number but want to share as little identifying information as possible. Voicemail is disabled by default, and caller ID shows only your chosen display name.
  • Event Organizer — Built for short-term use cases like coordinating a wedding, fundraiser, or community event. Includes a group broadcast feature and an auto-expiry option so the number deactivates after your chosen date.
  • Custom Blank — Prefer to build from scratch? Start with an empty template and configure every setting yourself.

Tip: You can switch between persona templates at any time without losing your call or message history. Your data stays tied to the number, not the template.

Each template can be fully customized after you select it. Think of templates as a starting point, not a limitation. You can adjust voicemail greetings, auto-replies, display names, and notification preferences for each persona independently.

Improved Call Quality Engine

We have rebuilt the audio pipeline that powers all Phound calls. The new call quality engine in v2.5 delivers noticeably clearer voice on both ends of the conversation.

  • Adaptive bitrate streaming — The engine now adjusts audio quality dynamically based on your current network conditions. On a strong Wi-Fi connection you will get full HD voice. On a spotty cellular signal, the engine reduces bitrate gracefully instead of dropping the call.
  • Noise suppression upgrade — Background noise filtering has been improved significantly. Whether you are in a coffee shop, on a busy street, or working from a shared office, the person on the other end will hear you more clearly.
  • Reduced call setup time — Outbound calls now connect up to 40% faster thanks to optimized signaling. You will notice the difference especially on international calls.
  • Echo cancellation — A persistent echo issue that some users experienced on speakerphone has been resolved with a new acoustic echo cancellation algorithm.

New: The call quality engine now shows a real-time connection quality indicator during active calls. Look for the signal bars icon in the top-right corner of the call screen.

Redesigned Inbox with Unified View

The inbox in Phound has been completely rebuilt from the ground up. The new unified view brings all of your conversations — texts, voicemails, and missed call notifications — into a single, searchable timeline.

  • Unified thread view — No more switching between separate tabs for messages, voicemails, and call logs. Everything related to a contact appears in one continuous thread, ordered by time.
  • Smart search — Search now works across all content types. You can search for a keyword and find it whether it appeared in a text message, a voicemail transcript, or a call note you added manually.
  • Pinned conversations — Pin your most important conversations to the top of the inbox so they are always easy to find, regardless of how many new messages come in.
  • Read/unread filtering — Quickly filter your inbox to show only unread items, or switch back to the full view with a single tap.
  • Swipe actions — Swipe left on any conversation to archive it, or swipe right to pin it. These gestures work consistently throughout the inbox.

Tip: Long-press any conversation in the inbox to access bulk actions. You can archive, pin, mute, or mark multiple conversations at once.

Better Notification Controls

Phound now gives you much finer control over how and when notifications reach you. These settings are available per-number, so you can configure each of your Phound lines independently.

  • Per-number Do Not Disturb — Silence notifications for a specific Phound number without affecting your other numbers or your personal phone notifications.
  • Scheduled quiet hours — Set a recurring schedule for when notifications should be suppressed. Ideal for business numbers where you do not want to receive alerts after work hours.
  • Priority contacts — Mark specific contacts as priority so their calls and messages always come through, even when Do Not Disturb is active.
  • Notification grouping — When multiple messages arrive from the same contact in a short window, Phound now groups them into a single notification instead of buzzing you repeatedly.
  • Custom notification sounds — Assign different notification sounds to each of your Phound numbers so you can tell which line is ringing without looking at your screen.

New: Priority contacts now sync across all your devices automatically. Set a contact as priority on your phone, and the setting applies on your tablet and desktop as well.

Performance Improvements

Under the hood, v2.5 includes a significant round of optimization work.

  • App startup time — Phound now launches up to 50% faster on both iOS and Android. Cold starts on older devices have seen the most dramatic improvement.
  • Memory usage — We reduced the app's baseline memory footprint by approximately 30%, which means fewer background crashes and smoother multitasking.
  • Message loading — Scrolling through long conversation threads is now significantly smoother. Messages load in smaller, more efficient batches, so you will not see blank spaces or loading spinners when scrolling back through history.
  • Battery impact — Background processes have been optimized to reduce battery drain when Phound is running in the background. Users with multiple active numbers should notice the biggest improvement.
  • Database optimization — Internal data storage has been restructured to support faster lookups and reduce the overall storage footprint of the app on your device.

Tip: If you are upgrading from v2.3 or earlier, we recommend restarting your device after the update to ensure all background processes pick up the new optimizations.
